How Much Does a Custom Pet Portrait Cost?

A custom pet portrait costs anywhere from a few dollars for a digital file to a few hundred for a large framed piece, and the price depends mostly on size, whether it's framed, and whether it's printed or digital. At Frame Your Pets, prices run from $29 for a high-res digital file to $169 for our largest framed print, with free US shipping on everything physical.
Prices vary a lot between sellers, so the useful question isn't "what's the average?" but "what exactly am I getting for this price?" Here's how to work that out.
What drives the price of a pet portrait
Whatever seller you choose, the same handful of factors move the number up or down:
- Size. A bigger print uses more material and a bigger frame, so it costs more.
- Framed vs canvas. A solid-wood frame adds cost compared with a frameless canvas. See our framed print vs canvas guide for how the two compare on looks.
- Digital vs physical. A digital file is the lowest price because there's nothing to print, frame or ship.
- Shipping. Some sellers add it at checkout, which can change the real total noticeably.
- Extras. Adding a pet's name, a second pet, or a rush option may be included or may be an add-on, depending on who you buy from.
- How the artwork is made. Portraits made by a human artist involve their time; portraits created with AI from your photo are generated in moments. Our AI vs painted comparison goes into the trade-offs.

What's included in the price
The price you see is the price you pay for the portrait. Here's what comes with it:
- A free preview first. Upload a photo, pick a style, and see your portrait in about 30 seconds. No account or card is needed, and you only continue to payment if you love what you see.
- Your pet's name, free. It can be printed on the portrait at no extra charge.
- Two pets in one portrait. Upload a photo with both pets in it and we include them together at no extra charge.
- Free US shipping. Production takes 1 to 2 business days after you order, then USPS Priority delivery takes 2 to 5 business days.
- The exact artwork you previewed. What you see in the preview is what gets printed.
- Free replacement if your portrait arrives damaged or misprinted. Details are on our policies page.
What to compare when you shop around
Because prices vary by seller, line up the same details for each option before you decide:
- Final total. Add shipping, taxes and any add-ons to the headline price.
- Exact size. "Small" and "large" mean different things to different sellers, so look for inches.
- Frame included? Some prices are for the print only, with the frame extra.
- Materials. Paper type, canvas or frame material, and whether the frame is solid wood.
- Can you see it first? A free preview before you pay lets you judge the likeness without risk.
- Turnaround. Ask how long production and shipping take, especially for a gift with a date.
- What's added. Check whether a name, a second pet or a style change costs extra.
How to pick a size for your budget
If you're working with a set budget, size is the biggest lever you have.
- Under $100: A 12″ × 12″ canvas ($89) or 12″ × 16″ canvas ($99) is a charming option for a shelf, desk or hallway. Or choose the $29 digital file and print it yourself.
- Around $120 to $140: A 16″ × 16″ framed print ($129), 16″ × 24″ framed print ($139) or an 18″ × 24″ canvas ($119) fits most walls. The 16″ × 24″ is our most popular size.
- Around $140 to $170: For a statement wall, a 24″ × 36″ canvas ($139) is the most size for the money, while a 24″ × 36″ framed print is $169 with the solid-wood frame included.

Digital file or printed portrait?
The $29 digital file is a good fit if you already have a favorite frame, want to print at a local shop, or want to use the portrait on a phone case or card. A printed and framed portrait costs more because you're getting the finished piece: printing, a solid-wood frame, and delivery to your door, ready to hang. If you go digital, our hanging guide is handy once you've framed it yourself.
Buying as a gift
If you're buying for someone else and don't know their walls or favorite photo, a gift card is the easy answer. Gift cards are emailed instantly, and the recipient picks their own photo, style and size. More ideas are in our pet portrait gift ideas page.
A simple way to stay in control of the cost
You don't need to commit to anything to find out what your pet looks like as a portrait. Try one style, then another, and only choose a size and frame when you've found the one you love. Because previews are free, the only money you spend is on a portrait you've already seen.
