- A close-up with the face filling the frame. A big, clear face gives the cleanest result at any size, including 24″×36″.
- Sharp eyes. Zoom in on your screen; if the eyes are in focus, the portrait will be too.
- Soft natural light. Window light or a shaded spot outdoors shows the true coat color. Skip flash and harsh midday shadows.
- Eye level. Get down to your pet’s height instead of shooting from above.
- The whole head in frame. Ears cut off at the edge of the photo are hard to fix.
