A Custom Dog Portrait That Looks Like Your Dog
A custom dog portrait from Frame Your Pets starts with a photo that’s already on your phone. Upload it, choose an art style, and in about 30 seconds you’ll see a free, watermarked preview of your dog turned into art. No account, no card.
Every breed brings something different to a portrait: the feathered coat of a Golden Retriever, the bat ears of a French Bulldog, the curls of a Goldendoodle. Mixed breeds and rescues work just as well, because your dog portrait is created from your photo, not from a breed template, so the real markings and expression come through.
If you love the preview, choose a framed print (16″×16″ to 24″×36″, from $129) or a gallery-wrap canvas (from $89), and add your dog’s name free for a truly personalized dog portrait. We email a digital proof before printing on museum-grade paper, then ship your dog art free in the US. Prefer a file to print or share yourself? A high-res digital file is $29.

Photo Tips for a Great Dog Portrait
The better the photo, the better the portrait, and a few minutes with your phone makes a real difference:
- Get down to eye level. Kneel or sit so the camera is level with your dog’s nose, not looking down on the top of the head.
- Fill the frame with the face. A close-up with sharp eyes beats a full-body shot from across the yard.
- Use soft daylight. Face your dog toward a window or shoot outside in open shade; harsh midday sun causes squinting and dark shadows.
- Dark coats: turn off the flash and tap the screen on the fur to brighten it, so black and chocolate dogs keep their detail.
- White and cream coats: avoid direct sun, which washes fur out to plain white; shade keeps the texture.
- Ears up: a squeaky toy or treat held just above the lens gets that alert, head-tilt look.
- Two dogs? Use one photo with both of them close together and both faces in focus.
Which Art Style Suits Your Dog?
There’s no wrong answer, but three styles work for almost any dog:
- Watercolor Blue — soft watercolor on a calm blue background. It flatters every coat color, especially golds, reds and creams, and suits a living room or bedroom wall.
- Pop — bold color and paint splatter. Great for high-energy dogs, short coats and strong faces like Boxers, Frenchies and Pit Bulls.
- The General — an antique oil portrait of your dog in a historic military uniform with gold epaulets. Pure fun, and a reliable conversation starter.
Not sure? Run the free preview in two or three styles with the same photo and compare. You’ll also find Watercolor Earthy, Sparkle, Vector Look and Galactic Knight among all our styles.
Dog Portrait FAQ
Yes. Your portrait is created from your own photo, so it captures your dog’s actual markings, ear shape and expression rather than a generic breed look. Mixed breeds, rescues and one-of-a-kind mutts work just as well as purebreds. If your dog has a distinctive feature, like a split-colored face or one floppy ear, choose a photo where it’s clearly visible.
Yes. Upload a single photo with both dogs in it and we’ll include them together in one portrait at no extra charge. For the best result, pick a photo where the dogs are close together, both faces are in focus and neither is partly hidden behind the other. Larger sizes like 24″×24″ give two dogs more room.
Framed prints come in 16″×16″ ($129), 16″×24″ ($139), 24″×24″ ($149) and 24″×36″ ($169), in solid-wood Pecan, White Oak or Matte Black. Canvases run from 12″×12″ ($89) to 24″×36″ ($139). A 16″×24″ works well above a desk or sideboard; choose 24″×36″ for a statement piece over a sofa or fireplace.
The preview takes about 30 seconds. After you order, we email a digital proof for you to approve. Production takes 1–2 business days after approval, then your portrait ships free in the US by USPS Priority, which usually takes 2–5 business days. If you’re ordering for a specific date, reply to your proof quickly.
Yes. Older photos, phone snapshots and even slightly blurry pictures can work, and the free preview lets you see the result before you pay anything. If you have several photos, try the one where the eyes are clearest. You can also add your dog’s name for free. Our pet memorial portraits page has more gentle tips.
