A Boston Terrier Portrait in Full Tuxedo
They don’t call the Boston Terrier the American Gentleman for nothing. The crisp tuxedo markings, the white blaze between the eyes, the upright bat ears and those big, round, expressive eyes make every Boston look dressed for an event, even while snoring on the couch.
Bostons come in black and white, brindle and white, and seal and white, a black that looks reddish in sunlight. The exact shape of the blaze, collar and white muzzle is different on every dog, so a Boston Terrier portrait has to start with your photo. Ours do: your custom Boston art keeps your dog’s real markings and that slightly goofy, always-delighted expression.

Photo Tips for Tuxedo Markings and Big Eyes
Black right next to white is tricky for any camera. These tips keep detail in both:
- Use soft, even light. Bright sun blows out the white blaze and chest while the black goes flat. Bright shade or a big window balances both.
- No flash. Boston eyes are large and prominent, and flash bounces off them as a glowing green or white reflection.
- Show both bat ears. Leave space above the head; those ears are half the charm.
- Face them toward you. A straight-on angle shows the symmetry of the blaze and muzzle markings, which is classic Boston.
- Wipe the face. A quick wipe around the nose and short muzzle keeps things tidy at larger sizes.
- Catch the head tilt. A squeaky toy or an odd noise usually earns that curious tilt Bostons do so well.
Best Art Styles for a Boston Terrier
The General is a natural for the American Gentleman. An antique oil portrait in a historic military uniform with gold epaulets turns a dog who already wears formalwear into a full-blown dignitary. It’s a great gift for Boston owners with a sense of humor.
Vector Look loves a high-contrast face. The black and white markings, bat ears and round eyes become a bold, cartoon-style character on a clean white background, and it reads clearly from across the room, even at 12″ × 12″.
Pop brings bright color and paint-splatter energy to a black and white dog, a perfect fit for a Boston who greets everyone like a long-lost friend. Brindle and seal Bostons look especially rich in it. Previews are free, so try all three.
Boston Terrier Portrait FAQ
They will with good light. The portrait is created from your photo, so a picture taken in bright shade or near a large window, without flash, keeps detail in both the black coat and the white blaze. Harsh sun or a dim room tends to lose one or the other. The free preview shows you the result first.
Yes. Brindle striping and the reddish cast of a seal coat both come through from your photo. Natural daylight shows those subtle tones best, while yellow indoor lamps can make seal look brown and brindle look muddy. Any Boston works, including dogs with more or less white than the classic pattern.
No, and most owners wouldn’t want it to. The portrait follows your photo, so one ear up and one down, or a little nick from puppy days, stays exactly as it is. That’s part of what makes it your Boston rather than a generic one, and the free preview shows it before you order.
Yes. Upload one photo showing both dogs and we combine them into a single portrait. Similar-sized dogs like a Boston and a Frenchie fit nicely side by side. Make sure both faces are sharp and well lit, and choose a wider size like the 16″ × 24″ framed print ($139) for two.
It’s a fun one. If you have a photo, you can create the portrait and ship it free to anyone in the US, with the dog’s name added free. Not sure which photo or style they’d pick? Gift cards are emailed instantly from our gift card page, and the $29 digital file is another quick option.
