A Pomeranian Portrait That Keeps the Fluff

Pomeranians are mostly coat. That thick double layer stands straight out, frames a little fox face and almost swallows the tiny ears. A good Pomeranian portrait keeps that round, puffball outline while still showing the bright, dark eyes peeking out of it.

Color is the other big thing. Orange and orange sable are the classics, but Poms also come in cream, white, black, chocolate, black and tan, parti and merle, and many change shade as the puppy coat grows out. Every portrait is created from your photo, so your custom Pom art matches your dog, whether they wear a full coat or a short teddy-bear trim.

Photo Tips for a Big Double Coat

Fluff is gorgeous in person and surprisingly hard to photograph. Try this:

  • Brush right before. A quick brush against the grain lifts the ruff and gives the coat that full, round outline.
  • Find the eyes. Small dark eyes can vanish in a fluffy face. Make sure both catch a little light, and tap to focus on them.
  • Daylight for orange. Warm lamps turn an orange Pom neon. Window light keeps the sable tipping and cream undercoat visible.
  • Contrast the background. A cream Pom on a white bed or a black Pom on a dark sofa loses its edges. Pick something that stands apart from the coat.
  • Shoot at eye level. From above, a Pom becomes a ball of hair with a nose. Get low to see the face.
  • Catch the fox look. Ears up and mouth slightly open is peak Pom. A treat held just above your phone usually does it.

Best Art Styles for a Pomeranian

Sparkle is our top pick for Poms. The polished, semi-realistic finish handles all that fine fur, and the dreamy blue sparkle background makes an orange or cream coat look like a little show dog. It’s also a sweet choice for a Pomeranian memorial portrait.

Watercolor Earthy suits orange, sable and chocolate Poms. Its warm brown washes echo the coat color and soften the outline into something calm and classic, great for a living room or bedroom.

If your Pom is pure attitude, go with Pop. Bold color and paint-splatter energy fit a dog who announces every visitor, and it makes a white or black Pom especially striking. Try the same photo in all three; previews are free.

Questions

Pomeranian Portrait FAQ

It follows your photo, so a well-brushed coat in soft daylight gives the fullest result. A Pom photographed right after a bath or in the rain can look thin and spiky. Brush the ruff up, step into bright shade and take a few frames. Since previews are free, compare two or three photos and keep the fluffiest.

Use the look you want on the wall. A full coat gives that classic puffball outline, while a short teddy-bear trim shows off the face and eyes. Some owners order one of each. If your Pom has been shaved down, an older full-coat photo works fine as long as the face is reasonably sharp.

Yes. Merle, parti, black and tan and other patterns all come from your photo, so the markings carry through. Good daylight matters most, because indoor bulbs can turn white patches yellow and make blue merle look muddy gray. A spot near a window, out of direct sun, gives the truest color.

Not at all. The portrait is scaled to fill the print, so a Pom face looks great even at 24″ × 24″ ($149 framed). The real limit is photo sharpness: a close, in-focus shot holds up at bigger sizes. For a small space, a 12″ × 12″ canvas ($89) or 16″ × 16″ framed print ($129) is plenty.

Yes. If you have a photo of the dog, you can create the portrait and ship it to the recipient free anywhere in the US. If you’d rather they choose their own photo and style, gift cards are emailed instantly from our gift card page. The pet’s name can also be printed on the portrait for free.
