Aussiedoodle Portraits Full of Personality
An Aussiedoodle crosses the Australian Shepherd with the Poodle, and no two look quite alike. Some have tight Poodle curls, others a soft Aussie wave, and some fall in between. Colors range from black and white to blue merle, red merle, tricolor, sable and chocolate, and the eyes can be brown, amber, blue or even one of each. That’s what makes a custom Aussiedoodle portrait so much fun: yours is one of a kind.
The flip side is that a fluffy face can hide the very features a portrait needs. If the fringe covers the eyes, the picture loses its spark, so a little prep goes a long way (see the tips below).
Every portrait is created from your photo, so your dog’s real markings, merle pattern and expression come through. Preview it free, then order framed from $129 or canvas from $89. Photo Tips for Fluffy Faces and Merle Coats
Curly, patchy and fluffy all at once: here’s how to get a photo that shows your Aussiedoodle at their best.
- Show the eyes. Gently brush or clip the fringe back so both eyes are visible. If your dog has one blue and one brown, that’s worth showing off.
- Brush the day before. A fresh brushing separates curls and merle patches. A matted coat photographs as a dark blob.
- Avoid a messy post-groom look. The week after a haircut, the face is crisp and the outline is clear; a few months later, the fluff can swallow the features.
- Use soft, even light. Blue merle has gray, black and silver tones that fade in harsh sun. Open shade or a bright window keeps the pattern readable.
- Go for contrast. A dark Aussiedoodle on a dark sofa disappears. A pale wall or green lawn separates the outline.
- Burn some energy first. Aussies are famously busy. A short game of fetch gives you a calmer dog and a better photo.
- Shoot at eye level. Get low and fill the frame with the face.
Art Styles for an Aussiedoodle
Stained Glass is a clever match for merle. The jewel-toned leaded-glass look with an arched border turns those blue, gray and black patches into a mosaic of color, and it’s a showpiece on a wall.
Pop is a bold, colorful paint-splatter style that fits this breed’s energy. Spotted and speckled coats come alive against it, and it reads great even from across a room.
For something calmer, Watercolor Blue softens the curls and fringe into a gentle wash, which flatters tricolor and cream-and-white Aussiedoodles especially well. Not sure which to pick? Previews are free, so run your photo through all three.
Aussiedoodle Portrait FAQ
The pattern comes from your photo, so shoot in soft, even light so the blue, gray and black patches stay distinct. Bold styles like Stained Glass and Pop turn those patches into graphic shapes, while watercolor styles blend them more softly. Compare two styles in the free preview to decide which you prefer.
It can, but the portrait is better if both eyes are visible. Gently part or clip back the fringe with a small clip or by hand just before taking the photo. If you’d rather keep the shaggy look, choose a photo where the eyes are at least partly visible through the hair, and check the free preview.
Yes, if both eyes are clear and well lit in your photo. Face a window or the sky so each eye catches the light, and avoid the flash, which turns colored eyes into glowing dots. Different-colored eyes are a lovely detail, so it’s worth taking a few photos to get them sharp.
Not really; the print depends on the photo, not the dog’s weight. A close-up of the face looks great at 16″ × 16″ framed ($129) or 12″ × 12″ canvas ($89). A full-body shot of a standing or sitting dog suits the 16″ × 24″ framed print ($139). Frames come in Pecan, White Oak or Matte Black.
Yes. Upload a single photo with both dogs in it and we’ll include them together at no extra charge. Make sure both faces are sharp and neither is hidden behind the other’s fluff. Two Doodles of different colors, such as a merle and a black-and-white, look wonderful together.
