A Siamese Cat Portrait With Points to Prove

A Siamese cat portrait depends on two things: those vivid blue, almond-shaped eyes and the crisp contrast of the points. The darker color on the face mask, ears, paws and tail comes from a temperature-sensitive gene, so it develops on the cooler parts of the body. That’s why Siamese kittens are born almost white, why the points deepen with age, and why no two Siamese look quite the same.

Seal point is the classic, but chocolate, blue and lilac points are just as striking, and you’ll see both the slim, wedge-headed modern Siamese and the rounder “applehead” traditional type. Our custom Siamese portraits are created from your own photo, so your cat’s exact shading and expression come through.

How to Photograph a Siamese Cat

A pale body with dark points is a lot of contrast for a phone camera. These tips keep both ends looking right:

  • Avoid direct sun. Harsh sunlight blows out the cream body and turns seal points solid black; open shade or a bright window keeps the shading.
  • Turn off the flash. Flash bounces off the back of the eye and replaces that famous blue with a glowing reflection.
  • Shoot the mask straight on. A head-on or slight three-quarter angle shows the mask evenly and makes the most of the eyes.
  • Pick a mid-tone background. A gray sofa or wooden floor works better than a white wall, where a pale coat disappears.
  • Wait for the pause. Siamese are famously chatty, and a mid-yowl face rarely makes the best portrait. Snap the second after.
  • Use a recent photo. Points darken over the years, so a recent shot shows your cat as they look today.

Best Styles for a Siamese Cat Painting

  • Watercolor Blue — the soft blue background picks up those blue eyes, and the gentle watercolor finish suits a cream coat with smoky points. Our first pick for most Siamese.
  • Sparkle — polished and semi-realistic on a dreamy blue sparkle background. Great for lilac and blue points, whose cool, pale shading looks lovely against it.
  • Vector Look — a bold cartoon look on a white background. The strong light-and-dark pattern of a Siamese reads beautifully as clean, graphic shapes, especially in a modern room.

For frames, White Oak keeps a light, airy feel and Matte Black sharpens the contrast of the points. Previews are free, so try your photo in all three before you choose your Siamese cat painting.

Questions

Siamese Cat Portrait FAQ

It will show the eyes as your photo does, so choose one taken in daylight without flash, where the eyes are open, in focus and not reflecting a bright light. Blue eyes can look gray in dim rooms, so a spot near a window helps. The free preview takes about 30 seconds, so you can compare a couple of photos.

It depends on what you want to remember. Siamese points darken as the cat grows, so a kitten portrait captures a look that won’t last, while a portrait in a year or two will show deeper color. Some owners order a kitten portrait now and another later. Either way, previews are free.

Yes. The same tips help with any pointed coat, including Balinese, Himalayans, Birmans, Snowshoes and lynx point cats with striped masks. The portrait is created from your photo, so whatever your cat’s pattern, it follows their real coloring. Our Ragdoll and Persian pages have more tips for fluffier pointed cats.

A Siamese is slender and elegant, so a head-and-shoulders portrait works well at 16″×16″ ($129) or 16″×24″ ($139) framed. For a statement piece, go up to 24″×24″ ($149) or 24″×36″ ($169). Gallery-wrap canvases start at $89 for 12″×12″, and shipping is free in the US.

Yes, your cat’s name can be printed on the portrait for free. You’ll see the spelling and placement on the digital proof we email before anything is printed, and nothing goes to print until you approve it. Production then takes 1–2 business days, with free USPS Priority shipping in the US.
