A Persian Cat Portrait as Glamorous as They Are

A Persian cat portrait has a lot of fur to do justice to. Persians have a long, thick coat with a full frill around the neck, a round head, small ears and large, round eyes. Show-style Persians have a very flat face, while “doll face” Persians keep a little more nose, and both are just as photogenic.

The breed comes in a huge range of colors: white, black, blue, cream, red, silver chinchilla, tabby, calico and more. Eye color often matches the coat, with copper common in solid colors, blue or odd eyes in some whites, and green in many silvers. Himalayans, the pointed Persians, add blue eyes and a dark mask. Our custom Persian cat portraits are created from your own photo, so your cat’s real color and expression come through.

How to Photograph a Persian Cat

Persians are usually happy to sit still; the challenge is getting the fur and the face to read clearly:

  • Groom first. A quick comb of the frill and cheeks gives a cleaner outline and keeps the coat from looking matted.
  • Wipe the eyes gently. If your Persian gets tear staining, a gentle clean before the photo (as part of your usual routine) keeps the face bright.
  • Get down to eye level. Shooting from above makes a flat face look even flatter; eye level shows its true shape.
  • Use soft side light. Window light from one side gives the long coat depth instead of a white or gray blur.
  • Contrast the coat. Photograph a white Persian on a darker throw, and a dark Persian on a lighter one, so the outline doesn’t vanish.
  • Focus on the eyes. With so much fur, the eyes are the anchor; tap them on your phone to set focus.
  • Skip beauty filters. Smoothing filters erase the fine texture of the coat.

Best Styles for a Persian Cat Painting

  • Sparkle — polished and semi-realistic on a dreamy blue sparkle background. It matches the pampered, glamorous look of a well-groomed Persian, especially white, cream and silver coats.
  • The General — an antique oil portrait of your cat in a historic military uniform with gold epaulets. A Persian’s haughty, aristocratic expression makes this one very funny and surprisingly dignified.
  • Watercolor Blue — soft, flowing watercolor that suits long fur and copper or blue eyes, for a calm, classic piece.

Pecan frames add warmth to cream and red Persians, while Matte Black makes a white coat glow. Previews are free, so try all three before you choose your Persian cat painting.

Questions

Persian Cat Portrait FAQ

Yes, as long as the photo does. Choose a shot where the coat isn’t flattened by a hand, blanket or harness, and where the frill around the neck is visible rather than cropped. Soft, even daylight shows the layers best. The free preview takes about 30 seconds, so you can quickly compare photos.

Of course. Many Persian owners keep their cats clipped for comfort, so if you’d rather remember the full coat, upload an older photo from before the clip. Choose the clearest one you have, ideally the original file from your phone or cloud backup rather than a compressed copy from social media or a messaging app.

The portrait is created from your photo, so marks that are obvious in the photo may appear. If staining is part of your cat’s face, a photo taken right after your usual gentle eye clean will look brighter. You’ll see the free preview before paying anything, so you can judge for yourself.

Yes. Himalayans have a Persian coat with Siamese-style points and blue eyes, and Exotic Shorthairs have the Persian face with a short, plush coat. Both work well. For pointed cats, see our Siamese portrait tips on handling the contrast between a pale body and dark points.

A fluffy Persian fills a square nicely, so a 16″×16″ ($129) or 24″×24″ ($149) framed print is a natural fit. For a full-body pose with the tail on show, try 16″×24″ ($139) or 24″×36″ ($169). Gallery-wrap canvases run from $89 to $139, with free US shipping.
