About the Pencil Sketch Style
Pencil Sketch gives your pet the look of a graphite portrait drawn on cream drawing paper. The shading is soft and blended, individual strands of fur are picked out around the muzzle and ears, and tiny highlights in the eyes look as if they were lifted out with an eraser. Toward the edges the drawing simply dissolves into bare paper, with a few faint construction lines left behind like an unfinished study.
There is no color at all, only grey on cream, which suits people who find brighter styles too loud for their space. It is a printed AI artwork in a pencil-drawing style rather than a drawing made by hand, and your pet's name can appear in neat handwriting at the bottom for free. It reads well as a quiet dog portrait for a study or a cat portrait for a bedroom.
If you like the idea but want deeper blacks and smudgier drama, compare Charcoal on the same photo. Previews are free and take about 30 seconds.
Best for
- Calm, thoughtful pets and owners who find color styles too loud
- Pets with visible fur texture, such as curly poodles, fluffy cats and wire-haired terriers
- Gifts for relatives and friends with classic, understated homes
- A gentle way to remember a pet, with no costume and no bright colors
Lovely in these spaces
- Studies, libraries and home offices
- Bedrooms and reading nooks
- Hallways and stairwells, beside black and white family photos
Think twice if
If your pet's coloring is a big part of their charm, such as a ginger coat or bright blue eyes, a style with color like Watercolor Earthy will show it, because Pencil Sketch is strictly grey.

Pencil Sketch Style FAQ
Everything becomes graphite grey on cream paper, so a ginger coat or blue eyes turn into lighter and darker tones. Markings stay recognizable, because a white blaze or a dark mask still shows as contrast. If color is part of your pet's appeal, compare a watercolor style in the free preview first.
It draws fine individual strands around the ears, muzzle and chest, with soft blended shading across the rest of the face. Long and curly coats read as gentle masses of tone with strands at the edges, while short smooth coats show clean gradients. The outer edges fade into blank paper, so there is no filled-in background.
Pets with clear texture and contrast do well: a long-haired cat, a curly poodle, a shaggy terrier or a dog with a dark mask. Very pale pets on pale backgrounds have less tone to draw with, so a photo with soft shadow on the face helps. Our black and white pet portrait page has more on monochrome styles.
Yes, and it is free. The name appears in neat handwriting near the bottom of the paper, like a caption written under a sketch. Add it in the studio before you pay, and the preview shows exactly how it sits on the page.
