A Custom Pet Portrait with Name: No Extra Charge
A portrait with a name on it feels finished. It is the difference between a nice picture of a dog and “Biscuit,” the one on the wall. With us, the name is part of every order and costs nothing extra, whether you choose a solid-wood framed print or a gallery-wrap canvas.
The process is simple. Upload a photo, pick a style and type the name into the studio. The AI builds the portrait with the name already in place, and the free preview shows you the spelling, size and position before you pay. What you see is what we print.
The name does not look the same in every style, and that is deliberate. In an old-master portrait it sits on a small gold plate like a museum label. In a pop portrait it becomes part of the poster. In a mosaic it is built from tiles. Because each style has its own lettering, the name never looks stuck on.
Because the lettering becomes part of the image, spelling matters. Check each letter in the preview, since what you approve is what is printed. Some styles also let you leave the name off, if you would rather have a plain portrait.

Getting the Name Right
A few small habits keep the lettering looking its best:
- Use the name you actually call them. “Biscuit” reads better than a long registered name, and shorter names usually get larger lettering.
- Spell it exactly and check the preview. Capital letters and spacing go into the picture exactly as you type them.
- Titles and nicknames are fine. “Sir Winston” or “Captain Waffles” are just text to the studio, so write the whole thing as you want it read.
- Choose a photo with a clear face. The name is only half of the portrait, and the face is the other half. Our photo tips guide shows how to get a sharp one.
- Two pets? You can combine two pets in one portrait at no extra charge. Type both names in the one name box, like “Max & Bella” (up to 30 characters), and check the preview. See two pets in one portrait.
- Long names still fit. In several styles a long name is set smaller to fit, so a quick look at the preview is all it takes.
How the Name Looks in Each Style
These are the styles where the name has its own look. Every one of them is previewed free:
Gold nameplates
- Royal, Renaissance Noble, Victorian and Classic Oil put the name on a gold plate under the portrait, like a gallery label.
- Greek God, Samurai, Swirling Night and Holiday use a small gold plate too.
Script and cursive
- Line Art and Floral Crown use flowing cursive.
- Vintage adds a looping script caption, Charcoal uses pencil script, and Pencil Sketch uses neat pencil-style lettering.
Bold and playful lettering
- Superhero and Astronaut put the name across the top, Magazine Cover makes it the big headline, and Pop makes it part of the poster.
- Mosaic sets it in tile lettering, Embroidery in stitched thread, Pixel Art in blocky pixels, and 3D Animated in a rounded typeface.
Not sure which look you want? The style quiz will help, and for any style not listed here, type the name in the studio and the preview shows where it lands.

Usually, yes. Short names get the biggest lettering, and in several styles a long name is set smaller so it still fits. Pixel Art, Floral Crown and Astronaut all work this way. Check the preview to see how yours sits, and try a nickname if you want bigger letters.
Yes, as long as you know how it is spelled. If you are not sure, ask the owner or buy a gift card, so they can upload their own photo and type the name themselves. For a sympathy gift, our pet memorial portraits page has gentle wording ideas.
